PRAYER MINISTRY

The SouthPoint Church prayer ministry strives to know God through building a foundation on an intimate, personal relationship with Him, so that the church body would be equipped for personal, family, and corporate prayer, enabling them to reach the lost in the community. The Prayer Ministry offers the opportunity to:
  • Support all ministries and leadership in the church body through prayer.
  • Meet the needs of the community through prayer.
  • Bring souls to Christ through prayer.
  • Support the families of our church and community through prayer.

JOIN YOUR CHURCH FAMILY AS WE PRAY ON THURSDAY NIGHTS AT 7 PM AT THE HERRMAN HOME, 14103 Rock Canyon Drive, Centreville.

 PRAYER Q & A
WHERE DOES THE BIBLE FIRST MENTION PRAYER?
  • The Bible has a lot to say about prayer and the first mention is in Genesis 4:26.  “Seth also had a son, and he named him Enosh.  At that time people began to call on the name of the Lord.”
    WHY SHOULD I PRAY?
  • We should pray because the Lord instructed us to do so.  Matthew 26:41 “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.  The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”  Luke 18:1  “Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.”  Ephesians 6:18  “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.  With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”
    HOW SHOULD I PRAY?
  • Your prayers do not need to be wordy or impressive in speech.  Matthew 6:“And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.”  Ecclesiastes 5:2  “Do not be quick with your mouth, do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God.  God is in heaven and you are on earth, so let your words be few.”
WHAT IF I DON’T KNOW HOW TO PRAY?
  • The Holy Spirit will help you in prayer.  Romans 8:26-27  “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weaknesses.  We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.  And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.”

“Be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.”
Ephesians 4:6
